 The
San Diego Business Healthcare Connection (BHC) is a non-profit
501 (c) (3) corporation established in 2002 for the purpose of assisting the business community in finding healthcare and health coverage options for their employees. Since its inception, the BHC has broadened its efforts to include the active involvement of the business community in the healthcare debate, information and education on wellness in the workplace, and the availability of new local health coverage programs from low to moderate income individuals.
The BHC is a subsidiary of San Diegans for Healthcare Coverage (SDHCC), a unique and diverse local coalition established to develop and pursue strategies to expand healthcare coverge and access to healthcare for more than 500,000 non-elderly San Diegans without health coverage either all, or part of the year (2005 California Health Interview Survey data). The BHC was initially funded by The California Endowment
(www.calendow.org), and has continued to receive funding from them, as well as grants and contracts from The California Wellness Foundationm the County of San Diego, Union Bank, Kaiser Permanente, Consumer Center for Health Education and Advocacy, and LE Enterprises.
The idea for and the development of the BHC came from combined efforts of the business community, County government, healthcare providers and payors, consumers, consumer advocates, and private foundations. The membership of the Board of Directors is a reflection of this community project.

We offer information on:
- Group Health Insurance for small business
- Family public health coverage programs such as Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, AIM, CMS and the Coverage Initiative
- Wellness and health promotion for business owners and their employees
- Referrals to insurance specialists, on request, for private and public health insurance
The San Diego Business Healthcare Connection, in partnership with the business community, is dedicated to improving community health and quality of life by providing resources and assistance to business on health coverage, employee wellness and access to care, and by encouraging and supporting business participation in the healthcare debate.
